(pg 315) "Faith without deeds is dead." These "deeds" are not referring to "good works", but rather to actions prompted by faith. The two examples that James gives are Abraham offering up Isaac as a human sacrifice (it's certainly not a "good deed" to kill your son) and Rahab the prostitute helping spies from Israel to outsmart their enemies. The point, as I see it: if your faith isn't evident in your actions, it's not really faith.
